Education, skills and training outcomes for children and young people are ranked in the lowest 10% in the country. IMD2019
Keys to unlocking potential
We are passionate about early intervention and partnership working, so we have established a Nurture Room in the local Primary School - a dedicated space designed so that the children feel safe enough to open up about their worries and talk through their emotions, but also have the freedom to express themselves through creative projects. The heart of the Nurture Room lies in recognising that all behaviour is communication. This format is intended to give the children an opportunity to build trusting and nurturing relationships, and learn skills that allow them to flourish in school, make friends and deal with life more confidently and calmly.
Outcome
Since the Nurture Room was established, attendance levels have improved and incidences of challenging behaviour have significantly reduced across the school.
Endorsement
Our concerns for the community continue to grow as we are seeing more and more young people leaving school without any formal qualifications and the growing threat to young families due to the change in the benefit system as we see an ever-increasing number of working poor. The Branch would be a welcome addition to a community who have access to very few support services due to its rural location. It would offer the town a hub where all needs can be met and future life outcomes can be enhanced”
