Fundraising Stories
Northumberland Marathon
Jonathan and Betsy Glasgow-Vasey raised over £5,000 for The Branch Trust when they ran the Endurance Northumberland Marathon and Half Marathon respectively. They ran through rain, hail and a constant headwind. They crossed beaches, rivers and rockpools… reflecting on it they realised they were rather silly to go for a very long run in what is nearly Scotland in February. It was cold and at points a bit grim. And for Jonathan in particular, it probably wasn’t the most sensible ‘first marathon’ to have a go at. But it was all worth it to raise over £5,000 for The Branch.
Jonathan and Betsy fell in love with The Branch and all that it does to serve our community and have been involved in supporting The Branch through Christmas hampers and Covid food deliveries. The marathon was their greatest challenge but a huge joy to raise much needed funds for the work of The Branch.
Vintage Car Rally in the Alps
Carolina Fisken and Nessie Welschinger lead the way with the first independent Branch fundraiser in September 2022, raising over £7,000 for The Branch Trust on a girls’ vintage car rally in Switzerland! Nessie and Carolina used regular Instagram messaging to galvanise support and donations from around the globe.
