We host Come to Tea and Out to Lunch and have just
re-launched Full Circle, an intergenerational project.

As we open The Branch we hope that intergenerational projects will be at the heart of what we do. Young and old sharing life together – sharing wisdom, laughter and life, learning together and beating loneliness.

Keys to unlocking potential

Creating Connection

Come to Tea, Out to Lunch, Full Circle and our Connect Cafe are some of the ways we work to overcome social isolation build community and continuity as well as creating opportunities to serve.

We aim to develop and grow these activities at The Branch.

Full Circle celebrates interaction between the generations and encourages primary schools to regularly welcome older members of their community to have lunch, chat, create, laugh and play with a group of children.

We partner with a Social Practitioner of elderly people at the local health centre to refer those whose health is suffering due to loneliness and isolation.

Outcome

"Intergenerational approaches are an effective way to address a number of issues, many of them key Government priorities, such as building active communities, promoting citizenship, regenerating neighbourhoods and addressing inequality.”

Beth Johnson Foundation 2001, Centre for Intergenerational Practice

Endorsement

“The elderly can step back into a school - for some 80 years after leaving – the children love to teach them to play new games. They can talk to the children about the days before plastic and do artistic things with arthritic hands – a 90 year old man went home and bought Connect 4!”
